The Charles F. Chapman Award for Excellence in Teaching: This prestigious award recognizes outstanding USPS instructors. Once a year, each squadron nominates one outstanding instructor to its district. The District Educational Officer forms a committee to select one nominee within their district for national judging. In the final judging, the Chapman Award Selection Group of the Instructor Development Committee recognizes the five winners who represent the organization’s most effective volunteer instructors.
The City Island Power Squadron is proud to announce that our own P/C Peggy F. Morton JN, was one of the five winners for the 2008 Educational Year!! Congratulations Peg! We thank you for what you have done for the squadron and we are proud that you have been recognized for your hard work and your excellence in teaching.
John Burns Safety Award This award was presented to Lt Stanley McKay, AP in 2008.
Certificate of Educational Proficiency – In recognition of the successful completion of the grade Advanced Piloting and an additional three elective courses, CIPS is proud to announce that Christopher J. Cococcia, AP and Rosemary Pearce, AP were presented with the EP certificate at the D/4 Fall Conference on November 7, 2009. Congratulations and keep up the good work!!
